It is strange to hear from Washington that the United States does not understand what is happening in Kazakhstan. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova on the air of the program "Time will tell" on Channel One.
"It was strange to hear from, for example, the US Secretary of State or the official representative of the White House that they do not understand what is happening in Kazakhstan, and do not understand why Kazakhstan made such decisions. It's amazing, they usually always understand everything," the diplomat said.
At the same time, Zakharova stressed that the United States after the videoconference of the leaders of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) They will no longer be able to hide behind their misunderstanding of the situation in Kazakhstan, as Washington has received the necessary answers to questions about what is happening in the republic and why the CSTO has introduced peacekeeping forces into the country.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that the United States is asking Kazakhstan for explanations about why the authorities of the republic decided to seek help from the CSTO to stabilize the situation in the country.
On January 2, mass protests began in Kazakhstan. This happened after the government's decision to raise gas prices from 60 to 120 tenges. The protests quickly turned into riots and clashes with the police. Against the background of these events, military peacekeepers from the CSTO countries, including Russia, were sent to the republic.
