US President Joe Biden said that he considers the January 2021 riots in the Capitol an attempted coup. This is reported by the New York Post.
"We are gathered here today to confront forces in America that value power above principles. Against the forces that tried to attempt a coup, a coup against the legitimately expressed will of the American people, sowing doubts, inventing accusations of fraud, and seeking to steal the 2021 elections from the people," Biden said during a speech in Atlanta.
The US president also called on the Senate to abandon its usual threshold of 60 votes to pass several election reform bills.
Earlier it became known that former US President Donald Trump is outraged that his former employees are testifying to the House of Representatives committee investigating the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2022.
In particular, Trump is unhappy that former White House chief of Staff Mark Meadows and "dozens of other aides" shared many materials that compromise him.
