Drag Race: McLaren 765LT vs Porsche 911 Turbo S | Video

The British YouTube channel Carwow compared the McLaren 765LT and Porsche 911 Turbo S (992) in a drag race. Mid-engined coupes with turbo engines and different types of drive revealed the strongest in races from a quarter-mile standstill, parallel starts from a half-mile run from 50 miles per hour (80 kilometers per hour) in different modes, and the final test was an assessment of the effectiveness of braking mechanisms from a speed of 100 miles per hour (161 kilometers per hour).

McLaren 765LT is a special version of the British coupe with a 765-horsepower (800 Nm) 4.0-liter V8, a 7-speed "robot", rear-wheel drive, and Launch Control. The supercar weighs 1339 kg and costs 280 thousand pounds in the UK.

The Porsche 911 Turbo S in the 992 body is 44 percent cheaper than its competitor and costs from 156 thousand pounds. The coupe has an oppositional 3.75-liter six-cylinder twin-turbocharged engine with a capacity of 650 horsepower and a torque of 800 Nm, there is all-wheel drive and an 8-speed "robot" with Launch Control. The German car is three hundredweight heavier than the British one.

At a distance of a quarter of a mile, McLaren and Porsche were separated by 0.2 seconds, a V8 supercar dominated the races unconditionally, but the results of the brake test turned out to be curious. Two months ago, Carwow already compared the 765LT with rear-wheel-drive competitors — the Ferrari F8 and 911 GT2 RS.
