The world will face record heat in the coming decades | Natural Disasters
In the coming decades, the world will face more intense periods of abnormal heat. This is evidenced by a study of the Higher Technical School of Zurich.
“The main idea is that in the coming decades we need to prepare for more record-breaking heat peaks that will far surpass previous temperature records,” said Eric Fischer, a participant in the study published in the journal Nature Climate Change.
Record heatwaves can occur from two to seven times more often in the 2021-the 2050s, and from three to 21 times more often in the 2051-2080s. At the same time, the planet is now “warming up” by 0.18 degrees per decade-faster than in the previous 40 years.
