COVID-19 vaccines may be included in the list of mandatory for the US military
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin may add a coronavirus vaccination to the list of mandatory vaccines for all active US army personnel. This is reported by CNN with reference to sources.
According to the TV channel, the head of the Pentagon is “inclined” to this, and may send a request to President Joe Biden. However, he will ask that the military be allowed to use vaccines that have not yet been fully approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. These include Pfizer, BioNTech, Moderna, as well as a single-component drug from Johnson & Johnson: all these vaccinations were approved under an accelerated procedure in emergency circumstances.
On July 29, Biden announced that he was asking the Department of Defense to “find out how and when” it would add the Covid-19 vaccine to the list of mandatory military vaccinations.
Earlier, the head of the Pentagon press service, Jamal Brown, announced that the United States Defense Department on July 29 put into effect the requirement for mandatory vaccination of military personnel and civilian personnel of the US armed forces. If it is impossible or unwilling to get vaccinated, the staff is obliged to wear masks, observe the social distance, undergo regular testing, and will be limited in going on business trips.
