The volume of trade between China and North Korea in January-May fell by 83.6%
For the first five months of this year, China's trade volume with the DPRK fell by 83.6% compared to the first 5 months of the previous year. According to a report published by the General Customs Administration of the People's Republic of China, the volume was fixed at $51.59 million.
Relative to the annual decline of 80.8% in January-April, the rate of decline accelerated. Exports of China, a key trading partner of the DPRK, to this country in the specified period were recorded in the amount of 44.45 million dollars, which is 85% lower than the same indicator of the previous year.
At the same time, China purchased goods and services worth about $7.14 million in the DPRK. For twelve months, the indicator fell by 60.9%. China's trade surplus in May was recorded at $37.31 million.
Compared to the previous year, the trade surplus increased by 38.6%. In May, China delivered $2.71 million worth of products to the DPRK, which is 21 times less than the volume delivered a year earlier.
At the same time, North Korea last month supplied China with products worth 749 thousand dollars. Over the year, the indicator fell 6 times.
