The U.S. accused the Russian media of spreading fakes about COVID-19

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security accused the Russian, Chinese, and Iranian media of spreading false information about the coronavirus and vaccines against it. This is according to a report on current U.S. terrorist threats published on the agency's website.

Officials said, “states among the United States' adversaries have stepped up attempts to sow discord.”

“Media affiliated with authorities in Russia, China, and Iran have repeatedly spread conspiracy theories regarding the origin of COVID-19 and the effectiveness of vaccines against the virus,” the document said.

At the same time, no evidence for these accusations is given in the statement.

Earlier, CNN accused Russia of trying to “sow disinformation in social networks” and increase propaganda in the American media. According to the TV channel, Russia intends to use internal disagreements in the country over vaccines and masks to increase discord in American society.
