Trump was booed at a rally for calling for vaccinations
Former U.S. President Donald Trump during a meeting with supporters in the state of Alabama urged everyone to be vaccinated against COVID-19, after which whistles and disapproving shouts erupted from the crowd, writes the New York Daily News.
At the beginning of the meeting, Trump said he understood those who don't trust the scientific evidence in favor of vaccination and stressed that whether to vaccinate is up to each individual.
“I recommend getting vaccinated, I already have. Getting vaccinated is a good thing,” Trump said, followed by whistles and disapproving murmurs.
“It's okay, you have the freedom to choose. If [the vaccine] doesn't work, you'll be the first to know,” the former U.S. president promised, making it clear that he would let state residents know if he was found to have side effects from the vaccination.
The pandemic in the United States has killed about 630,000 Americans. Earlier, Trump explained why Americans don't want to be vaccinated.
