The roads in New York City have collapsed, subway stations are flooded, and eight people were killed. The state declared a state of emergency.
Flooding in American New York, triggered by Hurricane Ida, took the lives of at least eight people. The hurricane caused the first flooding in the history of New York, reports CNN.
The Governor of the State of New York Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency. It was also decided to introduce the state of emergency by the mayor of the homonymous megalopolis Bill de Blasio, as well as the governor of the neighboring New York State Phil Murphy.
Earlier experts of the National Hurricane Center warned that the cyclone coming to New York is accompanied by "heavy precipitation and the threat of flooding".
In the city itself, the downpour continued for several hours. The city blocked the movement of cars on major highways and the work of most of the city's subway was temporarily halted because of the flooding. It is known that more than 200 thousand consumers of electricity in the northeastern United States were left without power.
