India prepares for vaccination by «Sputnik V»




Starting next week, New Delhi, the capital of India, will begin vaccination against coronavirus using the Russian Sputnik V vaccine.

According to the publication, vaccination will be available from June 15 at the Indraprastha Apollo Hospital. The cost of one dose of the vaccine will be 1,145 rupees, or $15.6.

From June 21, the country begins a large-scale free vaccination of the population over 18 years of age. The drugs will be purchased by the government of the country and transferred to the states. To expand the program, private clinics are allowed to purchase their own vaccines. In public clinics, vaccinations will be free of charge. Private and state-run hospitals will need to pay for vaccinations.

India is currently in second place in the number of detected cases of coronavirus infection. In the country since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 29.4 million people have become ill, more than 370 thousand have died.

Earlier it was reported that two dozen prisoners in nine prisons in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India refused to be released as part of the parole procedure. Their decision is connected with the most difficult situation in the country against the background of the coronavirus pandemic.
