The FBI conducted searches in the case of the stolen diary of Ashley Biden

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) conducted searches in New York as part of the Justice Department's investigation into the theft and publication of the diary of the daughter of American leader Joe Biden, Ashley Biden. This is reported by the New York Times.

It is reported that the FBI conducted a raid on the whereabouts of two persons associated with the activists of the infamous Project Veritas. The head of Project Veritas, James O'Keefe, said that his organization had recently received a subpoena and admitted that it had participated in discussions with sources about the diary. However, he stated that his staff "treated appropriately" — he and his colleagues acted according to journalistic ethics.

The handwritten pages allegedly taken from the diary were published last October — a week and a half before the presidential election — on the National File blog. The website claimed to have received the diary from a "whistleblower" who allegedly agreed on the rights to it with Ashley Biden herself.

Project Veritas is an American, according to some sources, right-wing activist group. Today, Project Veritas, as they write about themselves, "investigates and identifies corruption, dishonesty, selfishness, waste, fraud and other illegal actions in both public and private institutions." The project often conducts investigations and makes provocative statements, many of which turn out to be false. So, during the 2016 election campaign, the organization falsely claimed that Hillary Clinton's campaign accepted illegal donations from foreign sources.
