Fourth wave: Britain sets anti-record for deaths from COVID-19
Coronavirus 26 068 cases were detected in Britain in 24 hours, which is an anti-record since the end of January, 14 people died, according to the data of the British Ministry of Health.
It is specified that a day earlier the number of detected cases of infection with coronavirus was 20,479, 23 people died.
In the country 84.9% of the adult population was vaccinated with a single dose, 62.4% of the adult population received both doses. Since the start of the pandemic, 4.7 million cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Britain.
In March, it became known about the plans of the British authorities to extend the ban on international travel until July. In late March, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned of the beginning of the third wave of pandemic coronavirus in the United Kingdom. A month earlier he had said that the authorities hoped to lift pandemic restrictions by June 21, but because of the rapid spread of the Indian strain, removal of all restrictions was postponed by four weeks вЂ” until July 19.
Since 18 January, all those entering the UK have been required to comply with ten-day self-imposed isolation. In addition, all persons entering the United Kingdom must present a negative result of a coronavirus test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival. Since February 15, Britain has tightened the quarantine for those entering the country.
