WHO is sounding the alarm over the spread of the strain «Omicron»

The World Health Organization (WHO) assessed a high probability of further spread of the new COVID-19 strain "Omicron". As reported by CNN.

A new strain of the coronavirus "omicron" has been identified in South Africa. It is assumed that it is more contagious than all previous strains. WHO has assigned it the status of "option of concern".

According to WHO, the global risk associated with the spread of the new COVID-19 mutation is assessed as "very high".

"The probability of the potential further spread of omicron at the global level is high... The overall risk associated with the new omicron variant of concern is considered very high," the WHO explained.

At the same time, the organization stressed that so far no deaths have been recorded due to the new strain of coronavirus.
